We are Colorado’s Black-serving and Black Led Operating Community Foundation (public charity IRS designation EIN 85-2802236, 501(C)(3), 509(a)(2)
We are leading an economic revolution by creating a vibrant community of Black entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders.
You Can Help
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a giving account opened to support a public charity.
You can support AYA and the other nonprofits important to you by establishing a DAF with AYA Foundation. We work with Colorado Gives Foundation to expertly manage your fund and simplify the giving process. A DAF is a great option if you’re looking for convenient, personalized support and a desire to make a difference in your community.
HOW IT WORKS Starting a donor advised fund is easy and accessible, requiring an initial contribution of $5,000 in cash, securities, or other assets. Once established, your fund is carefully managed and invested by Colorado Gives Foundation, allowing you to maximize the impact of your giving.
GIVING IS EASY You may receive immediate tax benefits with each contribution and you have the flexibility to support the causes that matter most to you when you make grant recommendations from your DAF. AYA and Colorado Gives Foundation are here to support you every step of the way, taking care of all the details, including verifying charities’ tax status, approving grants and distributing funds. You can even invite family members, employees or others to serve as advisors to your fund and share in the joy of giving.
Give When You Want
Make a charitable contribution at any time and funds will be invested until you are ready to make a grant.
Make Grants & Support What You Care About
Make grants from your DAF to support AYA Foundation and the other causes and charities you care about most.
Low Minimum to Open ($5,000) and Low Fees
We encourage charitable giving by keeping fees low. The minimum contribution to open a DAF is $5,000.
Honor or memorialize a loved one. Create a donor advised fund in the name of someone you love. You can make periodic gifts to charities that were important to that person.
Create a workplace culture of giving. Workplace philanthropy doesn’t need to be complicated. Set up a workplace donor advised fun in your company’s name and engage employees in giving. Form a committee of employee volunteers to investigate and recommend gifts to charities, support community needs while building your brand and creating a more thriving community. You may even receive tax benefits.
Tax strategy. Do you have appreciated stock or other assets? Donating to a donor advised fund lets you take a tax deduction for the current tax year and then support as many charities as you want over time. DAFs can be an important part of your tax strategy. Consult your tax advisor to learn how.
Bundle donations with a donor advised fund
Building charitable donations provides tax benefits and flexibility. A single donor who typically donates $10,000/year to charity can “bundle” donations in alternating years to exceed the standard deduction. This person can then itemize and take a charitable deduction the years donations are made to the DAF, but enjoy recommending grants every year as part of their routine giving.

We recognize the profound impact of collaboration within the Black community and the vital role of allies in our collective pursuit of racial equity. As Colorado’s Black-led and Black-serving operating community foundation, we extend a warm invitation to join us in our commitment in upholding the following shared values:
Approach: We approach our work in partnership with the Black diaspora community of Colorado with respect and using a strength-based approach; always leading with collaboration, empathy, and tactfulness.
Commitment: We are committed to uplifting each other, and we firmly believe in the “Ubuntu” concept (I am because you are); always appealing to people’s better selves when discussing or working through problematic situations.
Collaboration: We value the impact that collaboration within the Black community has and continues to have in our world. Therefore, we will lead, work and executive in collaboration.
Health Equity Statement: We, at AYA Foundation, stand firm in our commitment to health equity. We recognize that economic equalization that goes beyond just a livable income and includes wealth creation among historically excluded communities not only fosters financial stability and protection against crises, but also leads to improved health and wellness outcomes. By championing economic empowerment and justice, we are actively advancing health equity within our community.
