We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news with you today! As of May 16, the AYA Foundation has been recognized as a Colorado Enterprise Zone Contribution Project.
This new status means that when you donate $25 or more, your contribution may be eligible for the Enterprise Zone (EZ) tax credit program, which helps us further our mission to ignite an Economic Revolution. Together, we’re empowering members of the Black community to build their wealth through education, training, networks, and funding. (Please note: Contributions from Donor Advised Funds are not eligible due to state regulations.)
The Enterprise Zone Contribution Tax Credit Program is specifically designed to bolster organizations like ours that are dedicated to encouraging development in economically distressed areas across Colorado. By supporting the AYA Foundation, you’re not only making a direct impact on the lives of the entrepreneurs we work with, but you might also benefit from a state income tax credit—25% for cash donations or 12.5% for in-kind contributions.
Here’s how you can join in:
1. Gift $25 or more to the AYA Foundation. Remember, only the donation amount qualifies for the tax credits, excluding any online platform or processing fees.
2. When donating online, simply choose the option to have your donation considered for the EZ tax credit. If you’re donating by check, please write “EZ” on the memo line.
3. Provide the necessary details through the form found on this AYA website page (scroll to the bottom), such as your Colorado Taxpayer Identification Number, or the last four digits of your Social Security Number. You can also email this information to Benny Samuels at benny@www.ayafoundation.org. We guarantee your information will be kept secure and confidential.
4. After we receive your donation, we will send you a receipt, and the State will email you a copy of your tax certificate upon approval.
Please note that the actual tax credit is based on all your eligible contributions made during the tax year and is capped at $100,000 per taxpayer, with any excess amount carried forward for up to five years.
We are immensely grateful to the Denver Economic Development and Opportunity office for helping us achieve this milestone and the profound impact it will have on our ability to support and empower the Black community.
Your steadfast support and generosity are incredibly valued, and together, we are making meaningful and lasting changes.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact us.
With heartfelt thanks and appreciation,
Benny Samuels, CEO
